Dog Licenses

Pennsylvania Dog License Requirements

license collarPennsylvania state law requires all dogs 3-months-old or older to be licensed by Jan. 1 of each year. Failure to comply with this law carries a maximum fine of $300 per violation, not including court costs. Until recently, this law has been somewhat leniently enforced by the county, but starting January 1, 2012, the law is going to be more strictly enforced and you will receive a fine from the dog warden if your dog is found without a current license.

Please understand that Wagsworth Manor does not require proof of a current license for your dog to stay with us, but the local dog warden does make routine inspections of our facility. If your dog is staying with us, and the warden notices that your dog's license is not current, you could be issued a fine. We'd prefer that our customers not have to take that chance - especially because it's relatively easy and inexpensive to renew your dog's license.

A complete listing of dog license fees for Chester County, PA can be found on the official Chester County website.

To avoid being fined, we strongly encourage our customers to make sure their dogs have up-to-date licenses.
