Puppy Preschool Adventures: Max’s Journey at Wagsworth Manor

Puppy Preschool at Wagsworth Manor

A Puppy’s Tale From Wagsworth Manor’s Puppy Preschool Training Day Camp

Woof! Hi there, my name is Max, and I’m a five-month-old Golden Retriever who recently graduated from the ruff-markable Puppy Preschool at Wagsworth Manor. As I sit here reminiscing about my time at the camp, my tail can’t help but wag with excitement. Let me take you on a journey through my unforgettable experience at Puppy Preschool, where I learned, played, and made amazing memories!

Rise and Shine at Puppy Preschool!

My day at Puppy Preschool starts bright and early. As soon as I step paw into Wagsworth Manor, I’m greeted by the friendly staff who know me by name. They always have treats ready, which makes me super excited! Through fun games and lots of positive reinforcement, the staff at Wagsworth truly made the learning process enjoyable and stress-free. Additionally, we were introduced to different “scary” surfaces like yoga mats, wooden bathroom mats, and even gravel. At first, I was a bit hesitant to step on these unusual textures, but with gentle encouragement and guidance from the trainers, I quickly got the hang of it. Each new surface was an adventure, and by the end of the week, I felt much more confident and curious about the world around me. After some belly rubs, it’s time for a potty break and a short nap. The first week was all about getting to know the basics of obedience!

Recall, Go to Bed, Scary Sounds and People

During my next few weeks we focused on responding to recall commands and going to our designated place on command, which was crucial for learning to follow instructions and stay safe. The trainers kept the sessions lively with plenty of praise and rewards while helping us face scary sounds like fireworks, sirens, and doorbells by gradually increasing the volume as we became more comfortable. By the end of the week, I felt brave and ready to face any sound confidently. Our trainers then introduced recall games to reinforce our skills and taught us to wait patiently for food, crate time, and at doors. We also met “scary” people wearing different hats, boots, hoodies, and using canes or crutches. Though initially strange, we soon realized they were just like our regular humans, thanks to the trainers ensuring positive experiences and helping us stay calm and friendly.

Staying Put, Walking Nicely, and Proper Greetings

Next up at Wagsworth were weeks packed with new skills and confidence-building! We practiced staying in one place on command, which tested our patience and focus, and learned to walk on a loose leash, making our walks much more enjoyable for both us and our humans. The trainers helped us tackle nipping and mouthing using gentle techniques, teaching us how to play nicely without using our teeth. We encountered scary objects like umbrellas and strollers and learned proper greetings to approach people politely without jumping up. Revisiting scary sounds like thunderstorms and babies crying, we gained bravery and calmness with each passing week!

Review Time at Puppy Preschool

The final week was a comprehensive review of everything we had learned. We went over all the commands and behaviors we had practiced. The trainers were thorough and patient, helping each of us master the skills we needed. We also revisited those scary objects like umbrellas, grocery bags, and strollers! By this time, I felt like a pro! Each object seemed less intimidating, and I was able to approach them with confidence and curiosity. The review week was a great way to reinforce all the good behaviors and ensure we were ready to graduate.

Pawsitive Memories from Wagsworth Manor’s Puppy Preschool

Reflecting on my time at Puppy Preschool, I realize how much I’ve grown and learned. The trainers at Wagsworth Manor were incredibly kind and patient, always making sure we felt safe and loved. They used positive reinforcement techniques that made learning fun and enjoyable. I made so many friends and gained valuable skills that I’ll carry with me for life. The socialization and training I received have made me a more confident and well-behaved pup.

Thank you, Wagsworth Manor, for giving me the best start in life. If you have a puppy, I highly recommend sending them to Puppy Preschool. It’s a pawsome experience they’ll never forget!
