Worried Your Dog Might Not Have the Best Restaurant Manners? Wagsworth Can Help!

While dining out with your pup may sound like a fun, new experience to try together, it’s understandable if you have concerns about how your dog will behave surrounded by all the amazing smells, sights, and sounds of a busy restaurant, brewery, or bakery. There are some things you can do to help make the experience more enjoyable, relaxing, and safe for you both.

First, before you head out to your destination, consider your dog’s potential energy level. Have they been cooped up in the house all day? Or did you just pick them up from a fun- and exercise-filled day (or week) at Wagsworth? Going to one of the places listed above, or any other eatery in the area, with a dog that has a lot of pent-up energy and hasn’t had much activity all day could be a recipe for disaster.

In addition, it might be nice, as well as helpful, to invite along another dog parent or friend. That can be double the fun, and you’ll have someone to watch your pup in case you have to leave the table for any reason.

Finally, because we know how much pet parents like to share everything with their pups, we encourage you to learn what people food is safe for dogs and what is hazardous.

At Wagsworth, we want to make sure you and your pup continue to be welcomed back to all your favorite restaurants. We offer a variety of one-on-one and group dog training programs, including a Good Manners Class, in which you learn to coach your dog on sitting, laying down, and staying; not jumping on other people or things; and resisting temptation—something we probably could all use help with when we’re eating out!
